Random Order Generator

Random speaking or turn order, revealed one by one if you like. Your text never leaves your browser.

    How to use it

    1. Type the people (or items) to order, one per line or separated by commas.
    2. Press "Make an order" to number them from 1. Press again to reshuffle.
    3. Turn on "Reveal one by one" to keep positions hidden and show them one at a time with "Reveal next".

    Why the order is fair

Because the whole list is shuffled at once, being drawn early or late gives no advantage. A name typed twice gets two positions, so add an initial to tell two people with the same name apart.

    Frequently asked questions

    How is the order decided?

The whole list is shuffled once with your browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) and numbered from the top. Everyone has the same chance of landing in every position.

What does "Reveal one by one" do?

The order is already decided but hidden. Each press of "Reveal next" shows the next position starting from number 1 — handy for announcing a presentation order live.

How is this different from the Random Name Picker?

The Random Name Picker chooses a few winners. This tool numbers everyone. If you need the full order to copy at once, use this one.

    Are the names stored anywhere?

No. Names are processed in your browser only and never sent to a server or saved.
